Being an artist
Please give us a few words of introduction about yourself
I am currently a student in Glasgow.
How and when did you start out as an artist?
I have always been artistic, but it always recently I have started to become more serious about having a career as an artist.
What training did you have?
I have an NQ, NC and HNC in Photograph and I am currently applying for art courses in Glasgow.

What’s your favourite quote?

Who is your favourite artist?
Vincent Van Gogh.
What are you aiming for?
Selling a few of my paintings to give me the confidence in having a career as an artist!
How will you get there?
By working hard and practicing everyday.
Is anything holding you back?
Money and the busy life of a student.
You and art
What sort of reactions do you get to your work? are you ever surprised?
I always get positive reactions which is lovely 🙂
From start to finish, how long does it take for you to create your work?
I spend at least two days on a painting and at least a few days on a detailed drawing as I’m a perfectionist.
What music do you like to listen to when you work?
Calming music and often meditation.
What is next in the pipeline for you? Any new directions or shows coming up?
No ready for that yet.
Being inspired by art
Who (living or dead) inspires you? and why?
Vincet Van Gogh, he was getting nowhere with his art, but he carried on because he loved it.
What feelings, subjects or concepts inspire you as an artist?
I love to look at something simple, and turn it into art. Also, I’m never truly happy with what I have created and feel there’s always room for improvement. I think that’s what keeps me going.
What is your favourite work that you’ve produced so far and why?
My favourite piece of work is my first tree painting from my Autumn Tree collection. I am still working on more paintings, but my favorite is still my first because it gave me confidence in my paintings.

Have you got any advice for those starting out as an artist?
Have patience, if sometime isn’t working or you’re getting frustrated, start something else and go back to it later.
