EVALUATION – from idea to installation – projects in glass and metal
Press Release – 5/09/06

Evaluation looks at the commissioning and production of artworks for public
and private spaces, focussing on the involvement of architects, designers
and artists in this vitally enriching process
The journey from initial concept to installed piece is a mixture of
exhilaration and frustration in the endeavour to match the client’s
aspirations to the physical, budgetary and scheduling constraints of the
project. Nevertheless these pressures often generate highly innovative and
inspired solutions.

The concept for this exhibition followed the creation of ‘Synergy’, a
striking glass and stainless steel suspended sculpture commissioned by
American lawyers Mayer Brown Rowe and Maw, for their newly refurbished
London offices.

To further explore these working relationships this exhibition, a
collaborative project by
Max Jacquard Glassforms, Peter Layton Associates and The Sculpture Factory,
brings together three approaches to the practice of design, manufacture and
delivery of bespoke commissioned artworks.

Max Jacquard is the recent winner of the British Glass Biennale Award 2006 –
