John Siddique at York Library

In advance of National Poetry Day, poet John Siddique will be giving a public
reading in York Library at 7pm on Tuesday 3rd October.

John will be reading new work from his recent commission by Read Write York. John
has been working with pupils at Westfield Primary School and visitors at York
Minster. His observations at both of these sites have been developed into a new
collection of work that is a modern-day Book of Hours, reflecting upon how we live
our lives against time. This will be the first public reading of John’s new work.
John will also be reading from his recent collection, ‘The Prize’.

As part of the Inscribe programme, John will also be delivering a creative writing
session between 6.00 and 7.00pm for writers of African and Asian descent.
Participants will need to bring an item of clothing belonging to someone else to
refer to for inspiration during the session. The creative writing class will take
place in the Marriott Room. The session is free to attend and we welcome all
levels of experience. Advance booking is essential. Contact 01904 554316
or email mailto:read.write@york.gov.uk to book.
