Atlantic Basin Project E-Publication

October 2, 2006

The Independent Artists Cooperative is a Newfoundland, Canada based artists
cooperative comprised of artists working in different disciplines –
primarily music and recording, the performing arts, new media and graphic
art. Please see:

We have just launched a new web-based initiative The Atlantic Basin Project
and we are calling for submissions for our first edition. The Atlantic Basin
Project is an e-publication of contemporary arts practice focusing on
coastal communities in the Atlantic Basin. This project grew from a desire
to create a place for discourse, a free space for the exchange of ideas, a
meeting point for diverse arts communities and a venue to show artist’s work
in an international context. We are also interested in exploring the
similarities and differences between communities working in coastal regions.

The Atlantic Basin Project has broad parameters. The first edition will be
an e-publication of the arts encompassing Contemporary Practice, New Media,
Inter-disciplinarity and New Music. The online journal will accept
submissions from artists in communities throughout the Atlantic Basin and
from any other coastal community. The theme for the first edition is
“Mapping The Edge – Shifting Practice, Transforming Community”. We are
calling for submissions of work that intersect with our theme in any way. We
will accept work from artists in:

* visual artwork in any media
* new music
* webart
* writing, both critical and creative
* discussion on new music and art forms
* streamed audio and performance
* reviews
* essays and articles reflecting contemporary arts practice

We prefer e-mail submissions. Please send us an inquiry before making a
submission to indieartscoop@hotmail.com We will answer all inquiries
promptly. Deadline for submitting to the first edition is January 15, 2007.
All artists chosen for the e-publication will be paid a fee for the
presentation of their work. It will be our tendency to accept submissions.

We hope that new relationships will form as a result of this project,
creating opportunities for exchange and collaboration. We are also very open
to any and all suggestions and are looking for partners to work with. If you
are interested in finding out more about us or this project please email us
